If you're interested, keep reading!

I used to be troubled by dry skin every winter . The skin used to be itchy, especially on the feet. The face still stays fine as I moisturize well but nothing works on the feet.

So I decided that this year I will do experience and research and find out ways to do it, so this is a summary of all the research done by the blog.

Before starting the blog, I want to tell this thing that neither I am not a dermatologist nor I am a skin care expert . This blog is based only on my experience and research.

So let's get started .

Tip number one: Change your shower or bath habits

This is the hardest thing to change in winter. Everyone wants to keep taking hot bath that too for a long time. Most dermatologists do not recommend long hot baths. Experts call this the worst habit for dry skin. Staying in hot water for a long time is used as a drying machine for your skin. You're basically stripping healthy skin of the oil you need to do good.

So what can you do? The first thing you can do is to lower the temperature of your water . It doesn't need to be too hot.

Secondly , the amount of time you spend in the shower is also an important detail. To spend a lot of time in the shower, people start thinking about something. They start daydreaming , due to which the skin gets damaged, it becomes dry.

In any season, especially in winter, you should reduce your shower time, less than 10 minutes and maybe 3 or 4 minutes will be enough, so try to avoid bathing for too long in the shower and try to reduce the temperature. Try it.

Tip Number Two: Changing Body Cleansing Habits

Of course, cleanliness is essential if cleanliness is to be maintained , but so is the type of cleanser you choose and how you use them.

These have a really big impact on your skin. I am providing some guidelines on this. So let's talk about the cleanser first. So when it comes to the kind of cleanser you're going to want to look for in something that cleanses and tightens your skin, you realize that

Cleansing is done well but such products take away the moisture from your skin – a lot of natural body oils have been stripped away and that is not a good thing. So avoid things like cleansers. Avoid cleansers with sulfur. Sulfates can be too harsh on the skin. Look for something that is gentle or maybe even a milky cleanser.

Also look for something that is fragrance-free. The American Dermatology Association recommends going fragrance-free. Reason being this fragrance can be an irritant and if you are dealing with dry skin.

The other thing to remember about cleaning is that over-cleaning should be avoided. It is especially good for your face, your hands and your body. Spoken by expert . I think the routine we have in summers is not necessarily the best routine even in winters. That's why in summer we sweat, we get dirty, we smell fast and that's why we need to clean more but in winter, we should avoid the need to clean more . Your hands and feet don't get dirty in winter. You are not walking in the mud. So avoid too much cleaning. Just keep it to a minimum.

Tip number three: Use the right moisturizer

In general most people apply moisturizer to dry skin after washing their face, their hands or their body but it is not really as effective as applying moisturizer to moist skin. When your skin is moist and then you apply moisturizer over it, it's actually going to lock the surface moisture into the skin . This way your skin will look healthy. It is much more effective. So this is something that I have started doing.

So make sure to apply moisturizer to moist skin and hopefully it will help reduce dryness and the American Dermatology Association recommends the same.

Tip Number Four: Use a Thick Cream Instead of Lotion

Lotions are loved by all because they are easy to use, they come in a pump bottle. They are convenient. They are not very smooth. That's why people use lotions throughout the winter.

Then what is it that I am advising you to use thick cream instead of lotion.

In fact, many lotions have too much water content and too few of the ingredients. This adequate ingredients basically mean  ingredients that are supposed to protect your skin. It works out the moisture of your skin and makes it dry. Products that are thick, such as shea butter or cocoa butter Contains more inclusive ingredients that provide moisture to the skin for a long time. It often comes in tub packing. Usually one item which is in a tub is enough for winters .

Use only fragrance-free products, this advice is given by the American Association of

Also offers dermatology ( American Association of Dermatology ). This is because the fragrance is honestly not beneficial in skin care. It does nothing for your skin. This

Makes the product more attractive to use, but it can be a potential irritant. Avoid fragrance if you have dry, irritated skin.

Tip Number five: To protect your hands, wear gloves

It's always a good idea to carry your gloves if you're going outside. Many of us do this but sometimes forget because of which your hands can become very dry. Make sure to apply moisturizer before putting on your gloves.

The second thing to remember is that when you clean your surroundings in winter, try to wear gloves. When we are cleaning around the house, we often come in contact with things that can dry out our hands. In summer, it may not happen but in winter when things are already dry, it increases a lot.

Like you're cleaning your dishes. The detergent you are using is designed to clean dirty dishes. It's actually very harsh - which can dry out your skin. And hot water too - remember we talked about a tip. Hot water is not a good thing for dry skin, so try to avoid it. Try to avoid cleaning by hand. Use your gloves.

Tip Number Six: Don't overheat your home

Now obviously you have to heat your home in winter because you want to be comfortable, but there is a difference, between a comfortable temperature and warmth. When you heat your home, the air in your home that is already dry becomes hot, dry air and hot, dry. Wind can dry out your skin. This can make your nostrils feel dry.

Wear more clothes if you want to avoid heating your home as much as possible.

Tip Number Seven: Is to use a humidifier

This  is an effective way to make the air less dry. There are so many different options if you've never used a humidifier before. Getting a humidifier can be challenging. Using a cool mist humidifier is really effective but you have to keep it really clean.

Now we have a bonus tip! I know I suggested seven, but we have a
bonus tip in this blog about lip balms . Now lips can be very dry in winters. This is because our lips do not produce any oil and they are exposed to a lot of external elements, hence become very dry and many of us turn to lip balms but sometimes that lip balm Makes the problem worse .

So look for something that is very simple, natural, ingredients that are not going to irritate your skin.
