Yoga does not require a warm-up , it may not require stretching or jogging, but there are certain practices that need to be followed if you want to get the most out of your yoga routine.

From ideal times of yoga before and after meals, to when you may need to consult a physician, the following is a list of what you should do before and after your yoga practice.

Before practicing yoga:


Clean your surroundings


Yoga should be done on an empty stomach or a light stomach.

Yoga should be done in a completely calm environment

If you feel weak, take lukewarm water with honey.

Bladder and bowel should be empty before starting yoga

Use a mattress, yoga mat, folded blanket


Wear light and comfortable cotton clothes for easy posture


Do not practice yoga in a state of exhaustion, illness or in a hurry


Consult a yoga practitioner in case of chronic/disease/pain/cardiovascular problem

After practicing yoga:

Take a bath 20-30 minutes after yoga


Eat after an interval of 20-30 minutes of yoga
