Indian Diet In Diabetes

In diabetes, along with our lifestyle, our diet and lifestyle also change. In diabetes, the doctor may advise the patient to take 1200 to 1800 calories daily, so that the medicine can work better ( 1 ). 

In such a situation, it becomes necessary that the diet in diabetes should be regular and balanced.   

There is a restriction on eating many things in diabetes. According to experts , two types of fruits must be eaten with food and to avoid overeating, salad should also be eaten 10 minutes before the meal. 


 

North Indian:

As soon as you wake up in the morning

  • Mix lemon juice in hot water or drink cucumber and lemon water, which will remove the toxic elements from the body.
  • With this, two easily digestible biscuits can also be eaten, they are easily available in the market.
  • You can drink green tea without sugar or mixed with sugar free.

Breakfast

  • One or two cups/bowl oatmeal or 
  • Boiled egg white with two brown breads or 
  • Two small parathas (without ghee or butter) and a bowl of curd or
  • Eat wheat porridge (wheat flakes) mixed in a cup / bowl of milk. 
  • Eat at least one fruit with all of these (apple, guava, or orange)

Time between breakfast and lunch

  • Make a salad in which cucumber, tomato, carrot and beetroot can be mixed and lemon juice, coriander leaves and mint leaves can also be added to enhance the taste. 
  • If it is uncomfortable to eat raw vegetables, then you can consume vegetables by boiling them, adding salt, pepper and a little butter according to taste.

Lunch

  • You can take rajma, chole or vegetable with two rotis. 
  • You can make a veg vegetable by mixing carrots, cauliflower, capsicum, brinjal or okra. 
  • You can also take a piece of fish if you are non-vegetarian.

 Evening snack

  • You can drink green tea without sugar or sugar free. 
  • You can also eat a bowl of bhelpuri or bake snacks, try fried food items.

 Dinner


  • Two rotis can be taken with one vegetable.
  • If you do not use root vegetables, it would be better. 
  • If you eat non-veg, then you can take boiled chicken stew with two small rotis and a small bowl of curd. 
  • Before sleeping, drink a glass of milk mixed with a pinch of turmeric.

West Indian:

As soon as you wake up in the morning     

  • Make a detoxification drink by mixing lemon and honey in warm water or
  • You can take orange and lemon juice. You can also take two quick-digesting biscuits with green tea (without sugar or with sugar free).

Breakfast

  • You can take wheat porridge or poha and a glass of milk / a glass of fruit juice.
  • Time between breakfast and lunch
  • A bowl of yogurt

Lunch

  • Two roti and vegetable or 
  • Boiled/Baked Fish or Chicken

Evening snack

  • Two quick-digesting biscuits with green tea (without sugar or sugar free)

Dinner

  • Vegetable curry with two rotis and a bowl of curd or 
  • Two loaves of bread and cucumber salad with fish or chicken. 
  • A glass of warm milk before bed    


South Indian :

As soon as you wake up in the morning     

  • Black coffee and two quick-digesting biscuits or
  • Drink green tea mixed with honey and lemon

Breakfast

  • Black coffee and two quick-digesting biscuits or
  • Drink green tea mixed with honey and lemon
Time between breakfast and lunch
  • An orange or 
  • A glass of buttermilk with some grapes.

Lunch

  • One bowl of sambar and rice and 
  • A bowl of yogurt or 
  • A small bowl of vegetables with a bowl of rice or 
  • Fish / chicken (chicken stew) and a bowl of curd.

Evening snack

  • Eat roasted rice with green tea and curry leaves and finely chopped garlic (roasted flaked rice). 
  • Black coffee without sugar and Ribbon Pakoda baked with it can also be eaten.

Dinner

  • Vegetable or chicken soup and two rotis or mixed vegetable curry, 
  • Two rotis and curd. 
  • You can drink a glass of buttermilk before sleeping.

East Indian (East) :

As soon as you wake up in the morning 

  • Lemon juice in lukewarm water or 
  • Then drink apple cider vinegar mixed with it. 
  • Watermelon and lemon detoxification can also be taken. 
  • Green tea can be taken without sugar or sugar free. 
  • With this, two easily digestible biscuits can also be eaten.

Breakfast

  • Eat a bowl of porridge mixed with milk and banana without adding sweeteners. 
  • Put a little butter on two flour breads and eat boiled egg whites with it or 
  • You can also consume wheat porridge with milk in a bowl.

Time between breakfast and lunch

  • Eat fruit. 
  • You can also drink raita or buttermilk.

 Lunch

  • A small bowl of lentils and all vegetables can make a vegetable
  • Non-veg eaters can eat fish with two rotis, a small bowl of rice and salad mixed with onion, cucumber and tomato.

Evening snack

  • Masala puffed rice and green tea or two quick-digesting biscuits with green tea.

Dinner

  • You can eat vegetables with two rotis. 
  • Non-veg lovers can take chicken with two rotis. 
  • A glass of milk or 
  • You can take a bowl of curd.
